About My Photography Journey So Far

How it all started

My passion for photography started at an early age, much like my passion for taking care of others. I can remember as early as around ten years old picking up a camera for the first time. The joy that I felt photographing people, pets, and nature is something that I still feel today. 

Becoming a mother accelerated my desire to get “professional” quality photos. I had less than appealing “backdrops” (a sheet or blanket), a lack of knowledge, but always good intentions. I knew the importance of capturing photos of my little ones with them growing and changing too quickly.

My progression

 I got my first DSLR camera around 2009. Years later, my friends and family started asking me to take their photos. Then word spread to their friends and acquaintances. In 2015, I started my actual business as a side business. I slowly began buying props, backdrops, and clothing and began dabbling in advertising on Facebook. It is not easy, but it is always rewarding. My photo business was and still is a huge learning curve. I am self-taught with both my photography and the business. I push myself to learn both sides more each day.

My business now

Where I am now looks a lot different from when I began. Currently, I serve Gillette, Wyoming and the surrounding area! I provide maternity, newborn, milestone, one year, family, senior photo sessions, and more! This means that I am able to follow my clients throughout the years and through their personal journeys! I keep the sessions lighthearted and as stress free as possible. I pride myself in being patient in each and every photo session. This is very important with children and the occasional grumpy husbands!

My hope is to continue serving my clients and to also continue to grow as a photographer and as a business owner. Future blogs will be aimed at helping my clients be more comfortable and prepared for their future photoshoots. I know from personal experience it is not always easy being the one in front of the camera. With knowledge comes power and confidence. Thank you so much for reading this blog.
